OUR WORK
Movie Trailer :: Discover More
The Discover More video was done as part of a church capital campaign. The idea was to create an extended "movie" trailer to get church members excited about the new building campaign and how the church is growing. We were able to get Don LaFontaine, THE VOICE of movie trailers, to volunteer his time to our production. The shoot took roughly 1 full weekend of shooting, 2 weeks of editing and covered 8 locations. We rented several vehicles and costumes as well as got the local fire department to volunteer their firetruck! To, date this is my favorite work, it pushed more envelopes then I care to remember, but the hardwork was worth it. [read more]

Music Video :: The David Crowder Band - "You Are My Joy"
This was a music video we shot out on the shores of the Great Salt Lake. We were completely blessed by one of the best sunsets the night of the shoot. We shot all locations in one day at the Great Saltair. The Saltair allowed us to shoot inside their venue as well as allowed us to light up some barrels and shoot in their backyard. It was an amazing night and a valient effort by our crew to pull off what ended up being an amazing video. It was shot in one day and we relied heavily on our jib crew to get us some great sweeping shots. I added a bit of a look to some of the shots to make them pop. [read more]

"The Nibblet Christmas Frittata"
Five minute period piece depicting Christmas morning in the life of the Nibblet family. The video was shot in color using Canon GL2 camcorders. We then removed the color and added some haze and debris to mimic the look and feel of 50s television. Finally we ran the entire shoot through Magic Bullet to remove all the video artifacts and give it a simulated film look, which further enhanced the 50s look. The video was used in conjunction with a drama which takes place on both sides of the video. [read more]

K2 Home Makeover :: The Guilini Family
During the summer of 2005, I was asked to shoot and edit a short feature on a family that had been through quite a bit of termoil and were being blessed by a local church by having their home completely renovated. The video documents the work on the house as well as interviews several friends, family and neighbors who all were amazed at how the Guilinis were being blessed. The church used it as a motivational piece during their "What I did this summer" service. [read more]

"The Apprentice: Salt Lake"
Probably my most favorite of all the projects on which I've worked. This project was prepared for a local church for their Easter service. The video tells the tail of four contestants all trying to jockey for Mr. Trump's ever elusive apprenticeship. The main tasks were trying to mimic the show as exacting as possible but also adding a bit of artistic license when adding the parody. Effects wise the video has quite a few, from the opening title graphics to wall removals, to a mock bullet t ime effect.
The opening graphics were all created in photoshop then composited and animated in After Effect, with the final look being developed in Magic Bullet. The matrix text rain is a combination of After Effects tricks and custom code I wrote to convert images to ascii text pictures using.
All in all the project involved 100+ hours in post production which doesn't include... [read more]

Commercial :: K2 "An Adventure with God"
This was a commercial that was created to help launch K2, a church plant in Salt Lake City, UT. The commercial was run in major theaters before movies as well as on the local UPN channel during "Fear Factor" for the month of August. The concept is one that has a father figure busily building a ramp, over which he plans to launch his Schwinn off of, just like he did back when "life was an adventure". This is on record as one of the most exhausiting shoots I've worked. The actors were awesome especially the kids who delivered great performaces despite the heat and attention of cast and crew. Music Video :: Dexter Freebish - "What I Need"
This project was one where I had complete creative control on. I was literally given the song and told that it was going to be played up on a 15 foot screen while a band played live. The central focus was to creativly display the words to the song. I spent a few days working out the look and style of the text and backgrounds then animated it over the course of a week. All in all it's about 100 hours in this project and I think it was worth every minute. Most of the questions I get about the project are how did I do the billboard section. My stock answer is "Magic..." but in reality it was happenstance that I shot a bunch of pics of a Scion billboard that was down at Venice Beach, CA. I then just did a bit of photoshop "magic" and added the words I wanted to highlight. The other fun section is when I do the video "rewind" effect towards the end of the song. It is indeed frame for frame a rewind of the song back to the section they start singing again. [read more]

Music Video :: Switchfoot - "This Is Your Life"
This is another video done as live video accent to a live performance. The words and backgrounds were animated in After Effects and the final video was cut on Pinncle's Liquid Edition. The backgrounds were created from scratch by taking photos I had take while at NAB in Las Vegas. I then super saturated them and added ths mist and fog effect layers. [read more]
